Being a Woman, I applaud Ariel for it’s wonderful advertising campaign that has been going on since 2015. The concept is #sharetheload with regards to household chores. Of course, the special focus in Ariel’s campaign is on Laundry. Their latest ad highlights the gender disparity in Indian homes where daughters are taught about stuff like cooking, cleaning, washing clothes etc right from an early age while we totally forget to let our sons be a part of these day to day duties. The result? Grown up women who are qualified, earning well and are equally competent as the men in the house are sufferers. Let us try to strike a balance, should we? Just like earning and raising kids together, household work should be a duty of both the men and the Women.
I am trying to teach my son to help me around the house with little tasks like: putting away the dirty dishes in the sink, putting dirty clothes in laundry basket, keeping his room tidy and even helping me wash clothes. Now he is a Five year old and I do not expect him to do much but we do make doing laundry together s fun activity. Here are certain things you can do with your kids, too
How To Teach Kids To #ShareTheLoad With Fun Activity?

First of all, have a laundry basket in your kid’s room so that he knows where to put dirty clothes.
I take out the entire pile of clothes to be washed out in front of him and tell him to separate whites, Blacks and coloured clothes.
Next, Whichever pile we choose to do first, I let him pour the detergent in the machine. He enjoys setting the timer and playing with the buttons of the machine. Thus I took his school uniforms this time.
While the clothes are being washed, we play some board games or sing songs together. I let him do s few pages in his colouring book from the Ariel hamper we received, at times.

Once, the clothes have been dried in the machine, we hang them out to try. I give smaller clothes like socks, hankies etc to him to clip on the drying rack. We use wooden clothes pin and not the plastic ones. Another good thing to teach your kids to minimize the use of plastic.
Sometimes, we add essential oils to our clothes while they are being washed. So, I let him choose which fragrance to add.

Also, we received a hamper from Ariel which is called #Hamperofequality. It contains one item for each person at home to inculcate the habit of helping around the house in everybody. It contains:

-
Apron
-
Colouring book
-
Grocery bag
-
Detergent box and scoop
-
Laundry bag
-
School time table
-
Wooden clothes pegs
-
Ariel matic liquid
-
Ariel matic powder

Basically, my aim is to involve him in day to day household work so that apart from his studies and extracurricular activities, he understands that he can and should do some work around the house as well. Ladies, you too should teach your sons to share the load. This will not only decrease the burden on you or his future spouse but also make him more responsible in general. So women, Are you teaching your sons, what you’re teaching your daughters? #sharetheload.
