Hello All 🙂
Today I planned to bake 🙂 This time no fried food nor spicy food and no unhealthy food. In my last blogpost, I had shared that I am planning to eat organic foods thus for a trial basis and to support National Trade Fair – Organics and Millets -2017, I prepared Organic Millets Cookies.
I am following slogan of Organics Millets as “Go Organics and Go Millets“
Millet known as bajra in Hindi, are healthy food grains and are gluten free which makes them a perfect ingredient for weight loss. Millet is used in many recipes from breakfast to dinner but to make it tastier millet is also used in snacks. One such snack is millet biscuits which are easy to make and taste delicious. A gluten free cookie with simple ingredients like ghee (clarified butter), sugar and cardamom is something you will surely like.
Organic Millets Cookies – Easy Recipe
Here are simple and easy recipe of organic millets cookies.
Ingredients to make organic millets cookies
1 cup millet flour (Bajra)
1/4 cup ghee (clarified butter), plus as needed
1/4 cup sugar heaped
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 Cardamom (elaichi)
1/4 teaspoon baking powder
Method to make organic millets cookies
Pre heat oven at 190 degree C. Meanwhile, powder the sugar, cardamom and salt.
In a mixing bowl, mix the millet flour with the above powdered sugar mixture and add baking powder.
Add 1/4 cup ghee gradually as you keep mixing in a rubbing way.
You may need more ghee, so keep it handy. It may take 1 or 2 tablespoons of ghee more. You need a dough that is stiff and without any cracks. There is no need to add water or milk, simply make the dough with ghee.
Divide the dough into 10 equal sized balls, flatten slightly.
Arrange them in a tray creased with butter paper and dust it with flour. Flatten the divided balls of dough to cookies. Just flatten them a little.
Bake at 190 degrees C for 14- 15 minutes. Once done, cool over wire rack.
Do not add ghee more than needed.
Baking powder is different from baking soda.
If the dough can’t be rolled or flattened without cracks, it needs little more of ghee.
You can also sprinkle some pistachios on the biscuits.
